Knotts Island sits at the northern end of Currituck Sound, where waterfowling has long asked a jacket to do more than look the part. It has to turn weather, carry shells, leave room for the gun mount, and stay useful from the first ride out to the last walk back.
The Knotts Island Waxed Sportsman’s Jacket is built for that work. Its 12 oz sanforised waxed cotton comes from a mill more than 150 years old on Scotland’s northeast coast. The jacket is made in the United Kingdom by a family waxed-garment maker operating since 1968. The cloth takes on marks as it is worn, then settles into the shape of the man who keeps reaching for it.
Inside, FrogSkin Camo lines the jacket. A corduroy collar with a throat strap closes against wind, while the antique brass YKK two-way zipper gives the front a clean, dependable closure. The removable hood secures with five brass snaps and comes off when the weather clears.
Two bellows pockets with drainage grommets carry shells and field gear. Handwarmer pockets sit behind them. A left-chest accessory pouch keeps smaller necessities close, and two zippered gamekeeper pockets add protected storage without crowding the front of the jacket. Adjustable waist tabs let the fit draw in when needed.
ActionBACK™ expanding gussets open across the shoulders when the gun comes up, then settle back into the jacket when the work is done. It is a field coat in the proper sense: made for weather, movement, and the long use that gives waxed cotton its character.

I’ve worn Barbour and Filson, and I can say that this jacket is the finest of them all. The weight is perfect, with a nice liner and a great fit. The hood is a bonus not offered elsewhere. Decoy did this one right, and I cannot wait to get it dirty, wet, and speckled with a little hunt residue.

I’ve only been able to wear it a few times since I bought it but can’t wait to really break it in. I’ve been looking for a jacket like this for a long time . When we first saw it at the show I didn’t get it. Got home and regretted it. Then on Sunday I drove an hour back to the show just to purchase it. Once I tried it on and felt the quality and craftsmanship of it, I couldn’t resist getting it. It is pricey but it is well worth it. Do yourself a favor and get it today if you’ve been thinking about it. You want be sorry.

Well made and very traditional. It harkens back to a waterfowl classiic.
